Getting Around
Gondola - The gondola between Telluride and Mountain Village is unique; it is the only transportation system of its kind in North America and it is also free to all passengers. The gondola operates year-round and is open seven days a week from 7 am to 11pm. The scenic ride takes approximately 15 minutes from Telluride to Mountain Village core or vice versa.
Galloping Goose Shuttles - The Town of Telluride offers a free bus system around town year-round called the Galloping Goose. Shuttles run on a town loop every 15 minutes from 7 am to midnight. For pick-up stations, simply look for the Galloping Goose signs across town.
Dial-A-Ride - The Town of Mountain Village also offers a free transportation system; Dial-A-Ride, throughout Mountain Village. For pick-ups, use your cell or house phone or the courtesy phones located at the Mountain Village gondola stations. 970.728.8888.
Weather
July in Telluride can range from 80+ highs during the day to 45 degree lows at night. You can expect anything from sunny skies to light afternoon showers this time of year. Be prepared for all kinds of summer mountain weather with sunscreen, hats and sunglasses as well as layers for cooler weather; sweater, light jacket, rain coat and solid walking/hiking shoes.

High Altitude Tips
Telluride is located at 8,750 feet above sea level, and it's quite common to experience difficulty breathing your first few hours at altitude. While staying in Telluride, there is a chance you may experience the symptoms of High Altitude Sickness, these include headaches, nausea, trouble sleeping and dizziness.
Here are some helpful tips to help you combat the potential affects of altitude sickness and to prepare for your visit to Telluride:
- Drink an abundance of water; (twice the amount you normally consume).
- It is also wise to limit the intake of alcohol and caffeine the first couple of days at altitude as they can cause dehydration.
- Before traveling to altitude, ask your doctor about any current illnesses or conditions affecting you now that could be exacerbated by altitude, such as high blood pressure, angina, or pregnancy.
